How can a teen earn his pocket money?
As a teenager, it may be difficult to hunt a proper job with monthly payments. The amount you get from your parents in return of the small household chores may simply not be enough for that new board game or going out with friends more or going for a movie or anything extra you would want to do.
But if you look around, there could be plenty of opportunities in your neighborhood and community to do some part-time job to earn. Here are some ways through which you could earn more pocket money.
1.Special Tasks: You could get some money from your parents in return for some extra work on special occasions. It could stuff to do like-helping them clean the house during festivals, cut/trim the grass on the lawn or doing basic accounting calculations for your dad, help mom re-arrange the pantry or get your sister to get rid of junior yearbooks.
2.Tutor: As a teenager, you will already know, what you have studied in your lower classes. So working as a tutor could be a great way to earn. You could teach children who are younger to you after they come back from school and teach them the subjects you are preferably good at or have an interest in. This could be an interesting way to improve yourself and also earn your own pocket money.
3.Baby-Sit: Babysitting is an act of taking care of small kids for a short period when their parents are away. You do not need any qualifications or skills to babysit a child. You could simply keep an eye on the child and see he does not do anything that could harm them. You could draw, paint with them, read them stories or play with the toys which are filled with fun and simple.
4.Draw those sketches for money:
If you are good at drawing, then it could be a plus point. A lot of students struggle with their assignments where they are asked to sketch a certain diagram or may have too many assignments that include drawing. You could utilize your skills here and get paid for, for simply doing something you love and are good at
5.Teach music: Just like drawing, if you know how to play a musical instrument, then go ahead and spread your talent. Give music lessons during the weekends, if you want and add up to your pocket. Make sure that people around you or the neighborhood are aware of your teaching classes because if they aren’t then you would have nobody to teach.
6.Earn for Rechecking: Research or High-level students have to write a lot of essays every day as a part of their projects. They already are so exhausted doing all the research working and filling in so many pages, that they feel it impossible to check the entire matter again for any mistakes. You could choose to check their contents and see if it includes any grammatical mistakes or inappropriate sentence formation.
7.Know how to spend: Do not spend the entire pocket money your parents give you every month/week. Spend a part of it and save a little. If they give you money to shop groceries, ask if you could keep the change or at least the coins. This way you could save that tiny amount which would soon be enough for you, for buying something you want.
8.Do it for the neighbors:
You could do a number of things for your neighbors. You could take their dog for a walk in the morning, offer dog washing service, car cleaning or taking care of their lawns. Adults today do not find time to do the basic stuff or simply refrain from doing so. You could do it for them and expect some money in return.
You will surely have several items you no longer use or clothes that do not fit you in size. A very popular method to earn money is to sell away unwanted things. You would not only earn but also get rid of what is no more required by you. You could sell them on eBay or to a near-by vendor who would accept them. Also, you could just sell them to your friends, if they are interested in something you’ve got.
10.Work for occasions: Another fun-filled job could be having a theme-based wrapping. You could provide services like the wrapping of gift items based on the theme and occasion. Many people lack creativity and would love someone to do it for them. Go ahead and get your hands on them.
Additionally, no matter what you do, always respect your parents. Do not hurt anybody for a few bucks and spend it wisely. Know the value of money and grab every opportunity on your way. Find fun in everything you’ve got to do.
