What is unhealthy junk food, which the teens should not have?
Teenagers are always in a rush and either find no time to eat or grab something on the way that’s quick and mostly “Junk”. They never find time to eat their breakfast and tend to skip that. They always dine out and the physical activity is just rushing from one place to another. Staying fit becomes difficult for your teen with such a lifestyle. So, take a few measures, so that your teen could avoid some of the junks and go for an alternative.
Junk To Avoid By A Teen:
1.Beverages: I cannot stress enough on how much teenagers and everybody in general needs to stay away from beverages such as sodas, cool drinks, lemonades, iced tea, etc. They add to the body fat creating future problems. They also lead to indigestion and obesity.
Sometimes, you may feel uneasy and want to vomit. Cool drinks are just a can of sugar in liquid form, that you have been consuming. They are teenager’s most favorite but surely not the healthiest choice made. The alternative to this could be Fruit juices or fruit-flavored water and these surely have lower sugar content.
Also, energy drinks like Red Bull or Monster contain high levels of caffeine which are very dangerous and lead to disturbed sleep. Diet sodas aren’t healthy either. They increase the chances of heart attacks and stroke.
Teenagers love to grab a burger on their way, but the calories in burgers in that fast food menu are super high. You could take the Bacon Clubhouse Burger from McDonald’s contains 740 calories and 1480 milligrams of sodium. So, go for a different food item at your favorite cafe or simply opt for the basic burger to cut down on the cheese and meat that are dripping calories and sodium.
2.French Fries: I know how much we all love French fries with a burger and a cool drink too. But that’s too much fat. And coming to the fries, they are a source of saturated fat overloaded. So let’s go for an alternative with bakes fries at home. Or baked kale chips could be healthier too. And also, baked potato wedges are a great choice as they even provide with vitamin C and A in plenty.
4.Other Category of Munching Junk:
Teenagers love to snack on chips, nachos, cheese puff, candies, cheesy popcorns and so many other things on the list. Everybody calls them “The Junk” for a reason. They are made up of no food items and have zero nutritional value that only affects your health negatively.
All such kinds of food contain chemicals and secret items. They are known to create a response in your brain due to which you would want to eat more of it. Now you know, why that big pack of lays disappears so quickly. other
Go for almond butter or cereal sticks as an alternative or choose Carrots dipped in mayo? You need to eat a little healthy to always balance with the non-healthy food you have consumed.
It’s not easy for teenagers to quit non-healthy food, as they have been feeding on them for so long. But knowing the good and bad would make them think before they eat and maybe lead to lower consumption. As a parent, you would need to set good examples for your child to be influenced.
Always balance your diet with nutrients you have missed upon. And remember, do not ban any food items. Doing so would make your teen overeat every time you are not around. Decide on the quantities and number of times a week to be consumed. Make it a fair deal.
