What are the 10 different ways to keep your toddler happy, when his diaper is being changed?

Well, children are in their world most of the time. There is no concept of time, cleanliness or being systematic. Most of the little ones go through stages when they resist diaper change. Unless you have a child who is not comfortable in wet diapers.

By 11 months old, your child is old enough to want to be more in charge of his body and his time. Kids usually do not want an adult to pick him up from something, he is busy with. The older your child gets, the more he will be stubborn when you need to change his diaper. Most of the kids act cranky, stubborn and feel very irritated while changing his diaper.

Does your baby act like any of these above? Does your baby hate diaper change? Does he cry during a diaper change? Is he stubborn or moody? Well, it’s time for a change in parents, regarding how you handle your kid during a diaper change.
Enough for wishful thinking and let’s see what’s the magic that keeps your baby happy during a diaper change.

DO NOT INTERRUPT HIS PLAY:

Playing is your baby’s work. Naturally, he hates to be interrupted by anyone. So, all you can do is change your baby’s diaper where ever he is playing, so that he does not feel that he is taken away from what he is busy doing

LET HIM DO THE WALKING:

If you let your kid do the walking into the room, instead of dragging him or forcing him to get in, it appears to the baby, that the adult is showing no control over him and he is doing it on his own, which is pleasing to the kid. If he is dancing in a party, let him do the dancing to the loud music even in the changing room, which keeps the baby happy

MAKE A PARTY ENVIRONMENT:

Kids cannot resist parties. Invite your kid by grabbing a drum, make some joyful music, and singsongs which will please him. Make him dance and grab his attention

ACT BY DIAPERING HER DOLL OR TEDDY:

Act as if you are diapering her doll and once you finish doing it then say “Your turn! Are you ready?”

ASK HIM FOR HELP:

Involve your kid into the diaper change by asking him for some help, kids love doing that. Ask him to take off his diaper on his own. And then say “I need to clean, will you hold the new diaper for me?” now tell him that you would put him the new diaper. Kids love mastering new skills.

LIVE ENTERTAINMENT:

Attract your kid by singing a song or dancing or running around the house or make some funny faces and make the environment joyful

SOFTEN THE TONE OF YOUR VOICE:

Give respect to your babies by explaining them as to what is happening instead of just scooping them up. Babies understand more than you know. Then can identify the tone of your voice right from their birth. So, be soft while speaking to them.

LET HIM MAKE THE CHOICE:

Always ask if your baby is ready for a diaper change. If he says no, ask if he is ready after 5 minutes. This will work.

MAKE HER LAUGH:

Laughter reduces stress hormones and increases bonding hormones. Before the diaper change makes your kid laugh as much as you can and make a joyful environment. Act silly with her after ten minutes make the diaper change.

EMPATHIZE:

Feel pity for her and ask her “does it feel cold on your back?” Your child gets upset at that moment. Stay compassionate. That way she will know that it is an emergency and that you are looking out for her best interest.
